Posted
Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals Monday approved a request for an indoor recreation facility where exercise classes for women will be held.

Petitioner Kelly Britton requested the city allow the indoor recreation facility for health and exercise classes in the Warsaw Professional Village, East Center Street. The building is 6,500 square feet with three lots that Britton said she plans to divide into three studios to offer exercise classes.

There will be no exercise equipment used in the facility. Classes will be held with an exercise ball.

She said the business will be named Giverny. It will offer group exercise classes for women, including body sculpting, palates, zumba and yoga.

Customers would not be required to have a membership to participate in classes, but a fee will be charged for classes, according to Britton.

Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., along with Saturday hours that have not been determined and possibly Sunday hours.

In other business, the board tabled a request from Dan Robinson, Westhill Development, to allow a utility substation in a light industrial zoning district on CR 300N, Warsaw.

Robinson said he submitted the legal notice to the Times-Union for the public hearing July 21 instead of July 18.

Indiana code states a legal notice for a public hearing must be printed in a newspaper 10 days prior to a meeting day, according to Gisele Cox, community development coordinator.

Bruce Woodward, board president, said the board will review Robinson's request at its August meeting.

The board will meet again Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at city hall.
