The following petitions were approved as presented at the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals monthly meeting Tuesday morning:
• Jon and Jennifer Wright – Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a residence addition (raise 8 x 20 area on existing residence to be at the same level as rest of house and raise the walls up adding cubic content to allow roofs to be same heights 4.8 feet from the right-of-way). The property is on the east side of EMS B40E Lane.
• French 1997 Delta Trust – Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a residence addition 23 feet from the water’s edge at 10834 N. South Shore Drive, Syracuse.
• French Capital Investors – Petition for a variance allowing a storage building in association to a new home to be constructed 15 feet from the water’s edge at 6948 E. Waco Drive, Syracuse.
• Lavern and Karen Yoder, 11574 N. CR 1000W, Nappanee – Petition for a variance allowing an existing barn to remain as placed by previous owner 12 feet, 4 inches from the south sideline and allow construction of a 44 x 22 addition in line with existing building at 12 feet, 4 inches from the south sideline.
• Marlin and Freida Miller, 6903 E. Eli Lilly Road, Syracuse – Petition for an exception allowing an accessory building to remain oversized (1,317 square feet) where ordinance and permit allows 1,200 square feet in a residential district. The property is on the north side of Eli Lilly Road and 340 feet east of Warner Road in Turkey Creek Township.
• Holly Horan, 525 N. Second St., North Webster – Petition for a variance allowing a second-story residence addition 22.5 feet from the right-of-way and to temporarily leave a shed 24 feet from the right-of-way. Petition was approved as requested with the condition that the shed is removed by June 1.
• Phillip Camden, 305 S. Clay St., Claypool – Petition for a variance allowing an existing duplex to remain as placed by previous owner on a tract that is 8,712 square feet in size when ordinance requires 12,500 square feet
• Kevin and Kellie Walbridge, 6285 E. Pickwick Park Drive, Syracuse – Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a carriage house (garage with living quarters above) 20 feet from the right-of-way and 7.5 feet from the east sideline.
• Shawnika Biddle, 3275 W. CR 200N, Warsaw – Petition for an exception for the purpose of the change and alteration of case 11029E by allowing guns and gun accessory sales and to complete background checks in addition to the existing one chair hair salon in an agricultural district.
• Lisa Rice, 712 W. Tower St., Pierceton – Petition for a variance which would permit the construction of a residence addition (living room/storage) 17 feet, 1 inch from the west right-of-way.
• Brenda Rose, 4244 S. CR 600W, Mentone – Petition for a variance permitting the construction of an agricultural accessory building 27 feet from the north right-of-way when ordinance requires 50 feet.
• Duane Yoder, 13790 N. CR 950W, Nappanee – Petition for a variance allowing a change and alteration to a previous granted variance by allowing the new building to be constructed larger (6,080 square feet) where original was 4,000 square feet.
• Jonathan and Teresa McCullough, 9055 N. Syracuse Webster Road, Syracuse – Petition for a variance permitting an extension to allow an old residence to be torn down by Feb. 1, 2019, when a previous case required removal by June 13, 2018. The petition was approved as requested with the condition that the old home is removed by July 1, 2019.
• Josh and Lindsay Stalcup, 13137 N. Eastshore Drive, Syracuse – Petition for a variance allowing the air conditioner and generator to remain as placed 3 feet, 10 inches from the north sideline when the permit for residence was issued 10 feer, 6 inches from the side property line. The petition was approved to leave the generator as placed with the air conditioning unit being moved to the southeast corner of the house.
• Jack Cowan, 12124 N. Ogden Point Road, Syracuse – Petition for an exception for the purpose of allowing a garage to remain as constructed and be added on to creating an oversized accessory building of 2,016 square feet in a residential district.
• Jack Cowan, 12124 N. Ogden Point Road, Syracuse – Petition for a variance allowing a residential deck to remain and be added to 26 feet, 7 inches from the water and allow an attached garage to remain and be added to 4 feet, 4 inches from the side property line. Cowan withdrew the lake side request and the remainder was approved as requested.
• Ruth Ann Masiongale, 85 EMS W16A Lane, North Webster - Petition for a variance allowing a residence addition (new deck and portion with roof) 2 feet from the north line, 19 feet to water’s edge and 24 feet from the right-of-way.
• Jon and Jennifer Leatherman, 14 EMS B40E Lane, Warsaw - Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a residence addition.
• Darrell Byrum - Petition for an exception for the purpose of allowing a change to a previous exception by allowing the garage to be sold and combined with key 56 EMS B40 Lane, Leesburg, in a residential district.
• Lake Wawasee LLC - Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a new residence 20 feet from the east, west and north water’s edge and 7.5 feet from the south sideline and 15 feet from the southern easement at 11742 N. Sunrise Drive, Syracuse.
• Randall and Donna Pollen, 48 EMS B16 Lane, Pierceton – Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a residence 7 feet, 6 inches from the right-of-way and 8 feet, 1 inch from the rear property line.
• George and Shelly Lukemeyer, 11815 N Ogden Point Road, Syracuse – Petition for a variance permitting the construction of a second-story addition 18 feet from the road right-of-way and 4.3 feet from the side property line. Petition was approved as requested to build the second-story addition, all other new construction must meet the 5-foot side setback.
