According to a statement released by Zimmer, "Our fellow employee Bud Garman is continuing what we understand will be a lengthy recovery from the injuries he sustained in the fire at our Building 5 last Thursday. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Bud and his family."
All office staff and about 20 percent of production employees returned to work at the building Tuesday. All other Zimmer buildings have continued normal operations.
Over the weekend, the building was inspected for structural damage and none was found. Production is expected to increase through the week at Building 5 until normal operations can resume.
The company expects up to two-thirds of the production employees to return to work by next week, and nearly everyone will return by the end of next week.
The statement also said, "Because of sufficient inventory levels in our warehouse and in the field, we believe we are well positioned to meet our customers' needs for Zimmer products. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of employee safety and product quality as we resume full operations."
