Luck had nothing to do with it St. Patrick's Day Tuesday as Zimmer won the 10th Annual Community Quiz Bowl with nearly a perfect score.
Team members included Todd Dawson, Dale Swarts, Robin Rasor, Brad Bishop and Mike Bodiker.
There was a three-way tie for second place. Under the tie-breaker rules, second place went to Warsaw Women's Center, with third going to Miller's Merry Manor.
Members on the Women's Center team were Melanie Kleinhans, Tim Cook, Jen Bohnenkamper, Herb Bailey and Sarah Bailey. Making up the Miller's Merry Manor team were Terrence Jent, Deniese Rickel, Sydney Roy, Barb Kintzel and Al Grossnickle.
The Quiz Bowl included four sections, with 15 questions per section. The first two sections were "2008 Year in Review" and "The '70s." After a 30-minute halftime sponsored by Lake City Bank, part two included "Academics" and "Sitcoms."
One question in "2008" asked: How many songs did Carrie Underwood take to No. 1 on the charts in 2008? Under the 1970s, a question asked: In 1970, Anwar El Sadat succeeded who as president of Egypt?
While the scores were being tabulated after the fourth section, Warsaw Community Schools teacher and 2008 Indiana Teacher of the Year runner-up Lorinda Kline spoke about the importance of supporting the Warsaw Education Foundation and academics.
"Join me in support of the Warsaw Education Foundation," Kline said. "Join me in the creation of infinite possibilities for our children."

The Warsaw Education Foundation provides funding through community support to advance enrichment opportunities, promote innovative and inventive teaching, and encourage academic exploration in Warsaw Community Schools.
Thirty-four teams participated in the 2009 Quiz Bowl. Each team received a participant pennant for office display. The winning team, Zimmer, took home a traveling trophy. First, second and third place were awarded plaques.The event raised $10,000 for educational initiatives in Warsaw Community Schools.
Gold Sponsors of the event included Lake City Bank, Zimmer and Jansen Orthopaedic. Silver Sponsors were Maple Leaf Farms, Embarq and Times-Union.
