The sale of Zimmer Inc., Warsaw, is moving along as scheduled, Zimmer spokesman Brad Bishop said today.
"The process is still going forward," he said. "The original (time frame of) six to 12 months from Sept. 28 is fairly accurate."
The announcement that Zimmer will no longer be a part of Bristol-Myers Squibb was made Sept. 28 when Ray Elliott, Zimmer president, said BMS' decision to concentrate on pharmaceuticals would "likely create greater opportunities for Zimmer in the future."
As to the price Zimmer may sell for, Bishop said: "We really don't have an estimate. That's part of the process - to determine the price."
He said the sale of Zimmer is "being managed by Bristol-Myers Squibb" and the investment group. As to who may be interested in purchasing Zimmer, Bishop said: "that's confidential."
"We're pleased and excited about this decision," Elliott said Sept. 28. He also said Zimmer worked with BMS on the decision.
