One of Kosciusko County's largest employers laid off 60 workers Tuesday in a "planned restructuring" effort.
Zimmer Inc., Warsaw, which manufactures orthopedic implants and supplies, eliminated more than 100 positions across five U.S. locations, and approximately 60 in Warsaw.
Positions eliminated include "a variety of managerial and administrative support positions," said Zimmer's spokesman, Brad Bishop, today. No hourly or sales employees were laid off, Bishop said
The layoffs are the result of a restructuring plan that aims to enable Zimmer to "compete more effectively in ... changing markets," said Terence Furness, Zimmer's president.
The company is helping affected employees find new positions, and is offering severance packages based on the length of service.
