MENTONE – Cargill awarded a $1,000 college scholarship to Mackenzie Ziegler, Winona Lake, a 2011 Warsaw Community High School graduate. In addition, as part of the Cargill Community Scholarship Program, the high school also will receive $200 from Cargill in Ziegler’s honor to support the school library. “We are pleased to recognize Mackenzie with this award and Warsaw High School for its dedicated work as well,” said Danny McCollum, manager of Cargill Animal Nutrition in Mentone. “Cargill supports education programs in our communities because today’s young people are tomorrow’s leaders.” Each year, 350 students living in communities where Cargill operates receive an award through the Cargill Community Scholarship Program. Students are selected based on academic achievement and leadership in school and community activities. This year, nearly 2,000 students applied for this program. The National FFA administers this program on behalf of Cargill, though recipients do not need to be FFA members.
