Young Closes In On Zolman's Indiana GBB Career Scoring Record

Princeton senior and Notre Dame signee Jackie Young moved to No. 2 on the Indiana girls basketball career scoring list with a 48-point performance in a 79-50 win over Mount Vernon Saturday. Young now has 2,870 career points going into today’s City Securities Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle. She is 216 away from breaking the record of 3,085 points currently held by Wawasee’s Shanna Zolman, who finished her career in 2002. Young needs 266 points to break the all-time basketball scoring record in Indiana, held by Bedford-North Lawrence’s Damon Bailey. With her current average of 38.7 points a game, Young could break Zolman’s girls record Jan. 14 at Wood Memorial in Oakland City. Bailey’s record would fall a week later at Pike Central near Petersburg.
