This fall the Kosciusko Community YMCA will offer its first-ever Adventure Race, Mission to Mariner, in partnership with Metzger Outdoors. The race will be a family friendly community event to raise funds toward shaping the future of the community by building a new YMCA. Starting at the current Smith Street YMCA facility, the race will bring participants in two divisions to the new site on Mariner Drive. Starting at 2 p.m. Aug. 25, the family friendly version of the race for teams of up to five people will include several challenges and lead participants on a roughly three-mile course. The athlete division for individuals will include additional challenges and a much longer course. Part of the challenge of the race is not knowing all the details. Children can participate in the race, but need to be able to walk three miles. Matt Metzger, of Metzger Outdoors, who has put on more than 1,013 adventure races, said, “Metzger Outdoors loves the YMCA. We are looking forward to putting on a fun, family friendly event.” To register, come to the YMCA or visit www.kcymca.org and click on the register tab.
