The Kosciusko Community YMCA recently held a Flip-A-Thon to raise money for the gymnastics program. Money was raised for each flip a gymnast was able to perform. Gymnasts from ages 18 months to 25 yearsold participated in the fundraising event.
Flips performed for the Flip-A-Thon were forward rolls, backward rolls, back extension rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, back walkovers, front walkovers, back handsprings, front handsprings and back tucks. Preschool gymnasts each completed 25 flips, while youth and tumblers completed 50 flips and the pre-team and Kosco Kippers Gymnastics team girls completed 100 flips each.
At the completion of the event the gymnasts collected money from their sponsors raising a total of $2,502 to help support the YMCA gymnastics program. Mallory Walerko, a Pre-Team gymnastics team member, collected $217 and received a gymnastics leotard for her efforts.
