"Y" Sharks Complete Successful Winter Season

Posted
The Kosciusko Community YMCA Sharks swim team just completed its winter season. The team was able to host five dual meets at the new Parkview Warsaw YMCA pool. Because of the parent volunteers and the support of the Y, the home swim meets were a huge success. This season the team increased to 75 swimmers ages 5-17.
The Kosy Sharks swim team finished up its winter season at Y State March 4-6 at Purdue University. They had 61 swimmers swim at Y State. The team finished sixth at Y State.
One of the highlights was Delaney Wihebrink winning high point for the 13-14 girl’s age group. Delaney set a meet record in the 100 backstroke.
Grant Knight was second high point in the 13-14 boys’ age group, and Finn Bailey was second high point in the 8-and-under boys group.
Wihebrink and Knight swam at the Age Group Championship at the Natatorium in Indianapolis on March 18-20. Knight placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke.
Brenna Morgan swam at Senior State March 11-13 in Zionsville. She continued her swim season by qualifying for the YMCA National Swim Meet in Greensboro, N.C. April 4-8. She represented the Y team with strong finishes in her three races. She swam the 200 freestyle, finishing 40th of 127 swimmers. In the 50 free she was 18th of 162, and her 100 free she was 23rd out of 153.
The Sharks begin their summer season on April 18.  Sign ups are going on now, see the YMCA’s Welcome Center or www.kcymca.org for more information
As a member of the Sharks, swimmers will develop their competitive skills, stroke techniques and endurance in a supportive learning environment.  Participation builds character, teamwork, and encourages individual achievement.
Every Sharks swimmer has the opportunity to compete in meets throughout the season.  Swimmers must be at least 5 years of age, able to swim one length of a 25-yard pool while putting their face in the water, and must be a member of the Y.
