WWT Orchestra Auditions Extended

Posted
Auditions for the Wagon Wheel Theatre Summer Youth Workshop Pit Orchestra for “Honk!” have been extended through June 4.
The workshop is for instrumental musicians in ninth through 12th grade.
“Honk!” is the winner of the 2000 Oliver Award – The British “Tony” Award - for best new musical.
This is a modern and upbeat musical in which students will have a ton of fun playing. They will work alongside and learn from professional musicians plus will perform in the pit orchestra along with all of the high school actors for a production July 14.
This is a free opportunity.
The Wagon Wheel is searching for students who play any of the following instruments: flute/piccolo, clarinet/bass clarinet, alto saxophone/baritone Saxophone, trumpet, French horn, cello, bass and/or electric bass, electric/acoustic guitar and percussion.
Auditions times should be arranged by Tuesday and completed by June 4.
Times also are available Monday from 1 to 6 p.m.
Auditions will be an average of 15 minutes in length.
Students who are interested in auditioning should have a parent or guardian email Thomas Stirling, musical supervisor of Wagon Wheel Theatre, at musicmaestrotom10@gmail.com to schedule an audition time no later than Tuesday. Leave student’s name, instrument they would like to audition on, and leave at least three dates and time ranges that the student could be available between today and June 4.
A rough rehearsal schedule will be given out when setting an audition time. Students who have conflicts with rehearsals will still be considered. We understand that everyone has busy schedules and will do our best to work around those conflicts.Audition requirements:
1) Students finishing ninth grade through 12th grade.
2) Woodwind, string and brass players must perform a prepared solo up to 7 minutes in length. Don’t worry about perfection – we’re looking for potential.
3) Percussionists must be comfortable on drum set. If you don’t have a solo, don’t worry. Specifics will follow upon requesting an audition. Must bring own drum set if you audition prior to May 31.
4) Students should be comfortable with most major key signatures.
5) There will be sightreading at the audition.
6) Any other special instructions will be given out when the audition is scheduled.
