Wulliman Seeking County Treasurer PositionDiane Wulliman announced Tuesday that she filed to run in the Dec. 1 Republican caucus for Kosciusko County treasurer.

In a provided news release, she said she has been planning to run in the caucus for several months.

“I am seeking this office because I want to give back to this community and I feel I can give a fresh perspective and new energy to the office. I also want to continue serving the people of Kosciusko County as I have in my past endeavors, working and serving on the board of the City County Athletic Complex, serving as Kosciusko County’s director of Indiana’s bicentennial and working in the Kosciusko County administrator’s office,” she said.

As treasurer, she said she will maintain the “excellent level of customer service currently being provided to the people of Kosciusko County.” Her other goals are to cross-train the existing, experienced staff to make the office run more efficiently, work to educate the public on their property taxes and work to improve the working relationships with other departments.

“I am qualified for the office of treasurer because of my extensive background in banking, mortgage lending and real estate transactions. I also have experience supervising employees, hiring, scheduling and training a staff, budgeting and customer service,” she said.

She worked for six years in the human resources/county administrator’s office so she said she knows county policies and is the only candidate with experience in the Treasurer’s Office as she is a current employee of the office.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in business administration.

Current Treasurer Rhonda Helser resigned effective Dec. 31 after winning the Republican primary and general election this year for county auditor. A Republican caucus for the county treasurer has been set for 6 p.m. Dec. 1 in the old courtroom of the old county courthouse, followed by a caucus for the county coroner.

The Kosciusko County treasurer and coroner will be elected by secret ballot of the majority of the members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancies in the offices. Candidates must reside in Kosciusko County and be a Republican in good standing.

Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of the Kosciusko County clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee Chairman Mike Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the commencement of the caucus.

Ragan’s phone number is 574-265-1430 and email is mragan@sprintmail.com.

Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to address the voting caucus.
