Residents of Kosciusko County are being warned about lottery scams reportedly originating in Canada and/or Florida.
Warsaw Police Department has been made aware of residents being contacted by individuals identifying themselves as representatives of Canadian and Florida lotteries.
The victims are told that they have won substantial amounts of money and they are requested to wire transfer the appropriate tax assessments to locations in Canada and Florida to receive their "winnings."
The callers do not provide contact information and no money has been received by the victims.
Some of the exploited individuals have lost thousands of dollars.
Anyone receiving such calls should not provide the caller any personal information.
This includes bank and credit card numbers.
