Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved two change orders for fire trucks the city is purchasing for the Warsaw Fire Department.

WFD Chief Mike Rice requested the change orders during the meeting.

The change orders are an increase of $10,197 from $435,000 to $445,197 for an arrow XT Top Mount Pumper, and a $31,965 increase from $478,000 to $509,965 for an Arrow XT PUC Pumper.

The change orders are for purchasing additional items such as hoses.

Rice said the fire trucks need to be replaced because they are outdated. He said the two new trucks are being purchased from Pierce Manufacturing, Appleton, Wis., and are expected to come in the next two weeks.

In other business, the board approved Warsaw providing insurance coverage for Wayne Township's fire trucks.

The board also approved Warsaw Parks Department applying for a 2009 Destination Kosciusko County Product Development Grant. Jon Garber, park superintendent, said the department would like to request funds to renovate Kiddieland playground at Center Lake.
