Works Board OKs Contractor For Da-Lite Turn Lane

Phend & Brown Inc., Milford, will install two right-turn lanes into Da-Lite Screen Co.

Da-Lite Screen is at 3100 N. Detroit St., Warsaw.

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved the $149,219.27 contract between the city and the company Friday.

The project will include installing an eastbound right- turn lane and a northbound right-turn lane at the intersection of Ind. 15 and CR 300N. The project also will include removing the existing pavement and the construction of new pavement.

City Planner Jeremy Skinner said Phend & Brown will need to provide the Indiana Department of Transportation two weeks notice before starting the project.

Skinner said the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, weather permitting.

Supply bids were reviewed for the Warsaw Street Department for 2008.

Bids reviewed were for limestone, ready-made concrete, flowable backfill material, bituminous material, concrete curbing and concrete flatwork. The bids will be taken under advisement.

Bids for the collection and disposal of recyclable materials for Warsaw also were reviewed. Bids were received from Stafford Solid Waste for $393,600, and $359,780.76 from Waste Management. The bids will be taken under advisement.

The board also:

n Approved the Warsaw Fire Department purchasing a $24,811.28 Chevrolet Tahoe from Lakeside Chevrolet for a K-9 unit vehicle.

n Approved a $4,600 contract between the street department and VIM Recycling for a grinding proposal for fall 2007.

n Approved a $610 contract between the Warsaw Police Department and Pro Air Inc. for an equipment service agreement for 2008.

n Approved a $583.95 contract between the Warsaw Police Department and Davis Corporate Training for a speaker regarding domestic violence.

n Approved a $1,347.50 contract between Smokin' Charles Catering Co. and the city for the city employee Christmas lunch Dec. 13.

n Approved a contract between the Warsaw Fire Department and Comfort Control LLC for a monthly preventative maintenance plan.
