Warsaw street department superintendent Lacy Francis presented two estimates from ProForm Pipe Lining Inc., Mishawaka, at Friday's Warsaw Board of Works meeting.
Both were approved. One proposal was a $9,515 estimate for rehabilitation of nine sewer manholes in Columbia - Center Street and Columbia - Market Street intersections.
Proform will use a mortar spin-casting method to add 15 to 20 years on the manholes' service time without disruption of service.
Also approved was a $22,790 proposal to place 355 linear feet of 15-inch cured-in-place pipe liner west of the Columbia - Market Street intersection.
Fire department chief Matt Warren's request that the city pay four extra hours on Lt. Jon Evans last paycheck was denied. On short-term disability, Evans' hours from remaining sick, personal and vacation days are four hours short of full pay.
The board and clerk-treasurer Elaine Call were concerned about the effect approval would have on insurance and thought the policy should cover Evans in any case.
Warren also asked the city to pay Evans' insurance premiums until his short-term disability ends in September due to hardship on the family, which was also denied.
"Don't worry," board member Mayor Ernie Wiggins said when Warren suggested other firemen might pass around the hat. "More than just the firemen will take care of Jon."
