Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract Thursday for a feasibility study on a proposed combined sewage overflow pipe to be installed.
The pipe is proposed to be installed in the alley north of the former Tinkey property in Warsaw.
The $7,829 contract is between Symbiont, West Allis, Wis., and the Warsaw Waste Water Treatment facility.
The contract will allow the company to complete a site investigation within the right of way north of the former Tinkey property located between Harding Street and to the north/south alley adjacent to the Baker Youth Club to the west.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the quality of soil and groundwater for a proposed pipe to store the city's combined sewer overflow, according to Waste Water Facility manager Brian Davidson.
The board also reviewed five bids for the Ind. 15 and Country Club Road sewer projects.
Mayor Ernie Wiggins said the board will take the bids under advisement and select a contractor at its next meeting.
In other business, the board approved Warsaw Police Department to receive a $7,186 grant for its Victims Assistance Program from July 1-Sept. 30.
Warsaw Police Chief Perry Hunter reminded board members that a traffic signal will be activated Tuesday at the U.S. 30 and Spring Hill Road intersection.
Hunter said extra patrolman will be patrolling from Deed's Creek to Parker Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday when the signal is installed. The board also:
