During a short meeting this morning, the City of Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved a few claims and pay applications presented by City Planner Jeremy Skinner. The first was an East Market Street Phase 2 claim and reimbursement request for $11,658.57 by V.S. Engineering, Indianapolis. Skinner said the claim was for ongoing engineering work for the street project. Mayor Joe Thallemer said the money will come out of the Economic Development Income Tax and then be reimbursed. Indiana Department of Transportation will reimburse 80 percent of the invoice total – $9,326.86 – since this is a state grant project. Skinner said the project will be in the engineering phase the whole year. Phase II will look pretty much like Phase I, he said. The first of two Husky Trail project pay applications was for $3,800 for right-of-way acquisition services by A&Z Engineering LLC, Fort Wayne. It also is an 80/20 grant where the city will pay for 20 percent of the project costs after being reimbursed. The money also will come out of EDIT. The second Husky Trail project pay application was for $3,996.50 for engineering services by A&Z Engineering LLC, Fort Wayne. It also is an 80/20 grant. Sheila Wieringa, Parks & Recreation Department recreation director, requested the Board of Works approve a contract for a total of $350 between it and Latte Lounge for the catering of beverages for Coffee & Canvas programs June 21 and Sept. 16. She said the board had approved a contract with Driveline Coffee for $280 back in January, but Driveline determined it could not fulfill the contract so Wieringa had to find someone else to provide the coffee. The Board approved the contract.
