Woodies Scholarships Awarded

Each year, Warsaw Community High School and college students are given the opportunity to apply for scholarships provided by the Woodies Supermarket (Warsaw) Educational Trust.

This year, 15 high school students and 11 college students received scholarships from the trust, totaling $25,500,  assisting the recipients in the pursuit of their academic careers.

The Woodies Supermarket Educational Trusts were established in 1978 by Woodie and Devota Schramm. Woodie was a businessman in Warsaw and Bremen and was the founder of the Woodies Supermarkets.   His wife, Devota, was a teacher at Atwood Elementary School. Mr. and Mrs. Schramm chose to share the rewards of their hard work with local young people by providing assistance to many of them with regard to the educational opportunities made available to area students after high school.

The Woodies Supermarket Educational Trusts are managed by 1st Source Bank's Wealth Advisory Services staff. The Woodies Supermarket Educational Trust has contributed approximately $867,000 to 1,438 Warsaw graduates since the fund's inception in 1978.

This year's recipients are, WCHS: Anthony Bass, Maygan Bellamy, Austin Bowell, Alexander Cook, Miriam Hagg, Caitlin Kehler, Nolan Knight, Macy Miller, Zachary Morgan, Isabel Ray, William Robison, Dominic Smith, Ethan Thompson, Isaiah VanPuffelen, Delaney Wihebrink.

College students: Eric Baumgartner, Lucas Cone, Mallory Hooks, Clairissa Kehler, Jonah Lechlitner, Sydney Miller, Shelby Perry, Annie Petro, Sydney Peugh, Caleb Warner, Samuel Yeager.
