A Claypool man allegedly angry over sharing a cigarette is in jail for stabbing a woman with a pair of scissors.

Justin W. Siede, 28, of 9752 S. Pheasant Place, Claypool, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:31 p.m. Jan. 23 and faces charges of domestic battery while armed with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony; two charges of domestic battery and one charge for interference with the reporting of a crime, all Class A misdemeanors.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Jan. 23 Kosciusko County Sheriff deputies responded to a home in reference to a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police spoke with a woman who had a puncture wound on her upper left arm. She told police that Siede was looking for a pair of scissors to cut the filter off his cigarette and trashed her bedroom looking for them. The woman went to get Siede a pair of scissors, meanwhile Siede had located a pair of scissors in the bedroom, court papers state.

When Siede told the woman he was not going to share the cigarette, the woman told police she snapped the cigarette in half, to which Siede responded by stabbing her in her arm with the scissors.

Another woman in the home heard the commotion and witnessed Siede stabbing the woman, according to the affidavit. The woman went to call police, when, according to court papers, Siede pushed her down, took her phone and threw it and told her she isn’t going to call anyone.

Eventually the woman was able to retrieve her phone and called police. When Siede heard the woman on the phone with 911, Siede fled.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due in court at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, according to court records.
