Woman Mistakes Work Release For Motel

Posted
A Warsaw woman was arrested for public intoxication after she allegedly mistook the county's work release building for a hotel.Cheryl Ann Frid, 53, Warsaw, entered the Kosciusko County Work Release Center at 12:35 p.m. Friday under the assumption it was the Comfort Inn Hotel. She told police she was there to pick somebody up when she was met by Work Release Director Sgt. Floyd Knafel.

Knafel stated he noticed an "extreme" odor of alcohol present from several feet away, and noticed Frid showed signs of impairment. She was arrested in the lobby of the facility, which at one point was a motel.

The motel was purchased by Kosciusko County in 2000 and converted to the Work Release Center.

Frid had apparently driven to the center, but was not observed by officers so she was only charged with public intoxication, a misdemeanor.

She was held on $300 bond.
