Woman Missing After Leesburg FireLEESBURG - A woman remained missing at press time after a fire at a home in Leesburg.
Police believe the fire was caused by a meth lab exposion and one man was arrested following the blaze.
Emergency personnel responded to a 1:37 a.m. 911 call this morning of a house on fire at 10 Yvonna St., Leesburg. The Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department arrived to find the house was fully engulfed and immediately called for assistance of Milford, North Webster and Warsaw Fire Departments. Multi-Township EMS was also on site.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Dept. deputies arrived and located a resident, Todd Douglas Metz, 37, outside of the home, uninjured.
Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers responded to the scene and located items associated with the production of methamphetamine.
Metz was arrested and preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine. KCSD detectives and Drug Task Force officers believe that a meth lab had potentially exploded in the garage area that accelerated throughout the residence. The Indiana State Fire Marshal Office and the Kosciusko County Squad 70 Fire Investigation Team were called to the fire scene.
Two unnamed females also were with Metz at the time of the fire, and one remained unaccounted for late this morning. The KCSD had cadaver dogs on site this morning to determine if there was a fatality.
Police were unsure if the woman was trapped in the fire or fled the scene. The exact cause of the fire has yet to be officially determined, according to investigators, but police believe it could be meth related.
Drug Task Force officers stated that more charges are possible.
