Woman Held In North Manchester Slaying

NORTH MANCHESTER – One man is dead and a woman was injured after a shooting in  North Manchester Thursday night, according to a news release from the North Manchester Police Department.

Dead is Jacob Chapman, 36, of 619 E. 5th St. His wife, Sarah Chapman, 37, suffered a gunshot wound. She was transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne and has since been released, police said.

Tiffany Renae Chapman-Lane, 32, South Whitley, surrendered within an hour of the shooting and was taken into custody by North Manchester police. She is being held in the Wabash County Jail with no bond on preliminary charges of murder and attempted murder.

Chapman-Lane is the ex-wife of Jacob Chapman, police said.

Police responded to the Chapman residence at 8:04 p.m and found a deceased male in the driveway with several gunshot wounds.

Police also found a female with a gunshot wound.

According to Wabash County Property records, the Chapmans own the home on 5th Street and it was listed as their home address.

Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Parkview Ambulance Service, Wabash County Coroner’s Office, Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office and North Manchester Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The case is still under investigation.
