Posted

The body of a Warsaw woman was recovered from Center Lake Saturday by police who received a tip from the woman's family.

Geraldine Linn, 56, of 701 W. Winona Ave., Warsaw, was found in her car by the Warsaw Police Department Aquatic Unit.

Linn's family reported her missing to Warsaw police at 8:25 p.m. Friday. They discovered tracks on the ice disappearing into Center Lake as they retraced Linn's normal path to work and suspected the tracks might be hers.

Warsaw patrolmen investigated the family's report and found the vehicle under 3 inches of ice about 35 feet from shore.

Her car was found near the north end of North Buffalo Street.

After cutting the car out of the frozen lake, police verified that it was Linn's body in the car. Police reported that she had been dead for some time.

Linn was last seen Wednesday.

Linn's death has been preliminarily ruled an accidental drowning. According to police reports Linn had been under some distress of late, but no evidence was found to indicate a suicide.

Assisting Warsaw police at the scene were the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, KCSD Aquatic Unit, the Warsaw Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County coroner's office and the WPD.
