Martha A. Lewallen, 64, of 9814 N. CR 500E, was prounounced dead at the scene.
Syracuse Fire Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to the 7:37 a.m. emergency call from a neighboring residence to the home on North CR 500E.
The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene. North Webster and Milford fire department were called in to help fight the blaze.
Information about the cause of the fire was not available by press time; the State Fire Marshal arrived at the scene about 11 a.m. to assist in the investigation.
When emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, information was given that not everyone was out of the house.
The house was destroyed, officials said.
