Woman Arrested In Son's Jail Break

Posted
A Goshen woman is in the same jail her son escaped from less than two weeks ago.

Rose G. Martinez, 42, of 602 S. Jefferson St., Goshen, was booked into Kosciusko County Jail at 9:33 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of aiding, abetting a criminal for her alleged role in the escape of her son Israel Zamora, 22.

Zamora walked away from KCJ on the evening of Feb. 21 after, while wearing a work release jumpsuit, a jailer allowed him to take trash to an outside bin.Zamora left the jail, and removed the jumpsuit before fleeing on foot.

While police don't believe Martinez aided her son in his actual escape from the jail they do believe she came into contact with him a short time later.

Police wouldn't elaborate on how Martinez may have aided her son.

Zamora is still being sought by county police and his escape has been listed as a Crime Stoppers "Crime Of The Week".

Zamora is described as a Hispanic male, 5-11, 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police have been searching Elkhart County and the greater Goshen area for Zamora.

Zamora was in jail awaiting trial for his part in the 2007 armed robbery of LaJoyita in Warsaw.

Zamora and two other men are believed to have committed a string of armed robberies from Warsaw up to southern Michigan.

Those with information concerning Zamora's whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 if your information leads to an arrest or indictment. Crime Stoppers also pays cash rewards on other felony crimes and the capture of fugitives.
