Editor, Times-Union: Mr. McClarens’ letter needs a response.
“ ... reps say by lowering wages companies can hire more employees.” I’ve never said anything like that and I doubt any of the other reps have either.
“Rep. Wolkins stated that even though a majority of his constituents didn’t want the RTW bill he was going to to what he wanted ...” That statement is totally, absolutely, categorically false. My polling shows 78 percent of my constituents support the RTW law, 18 percent oppose and 4 percent are undecided. I understand that the 18 percent that oppose it are probably made up by 100 percent of the union members in my district. I also understand that unions represent 9-10 percent of the work force. I would never make a statement as you said because it just isn’t true.
“Did you know that Rep. Wolkins used to be president of the Teachers Association.” The third is absolutely a false statement. I never had any role other than being a member of the association while a teacher.
Would appreciate a little more truthfulness in any forthcoming letters.
