WINONA LAKE - David King had a rather sticky - stinky - situation.
When the sewer started to backup at his residence at 110 Second Street, he called a plumber. What was surprising was what the plumber told him the problem was - that his home wasn't connected to a sewer.
"The plumber found that we weren't connected to any sewer line, and I have a videotape to prove it," King told Winona Lake's town council Tuesday.
King was seeking to have the town fix the sewer problem and to reimburse him for the expense of investigating the problem.
The council unanimously approved the $308 reimbursement and directed street superintendent Kim Endicott to have the home connected to the sewer main in the alley behind the home as soon as possible.
In other business, the board approved a request by town marshal Malcolm Gilbert to add an additional reserve officer to the department, bringing the total number of reserves to four.
Gilbert said the additional officer would not require an increase in his budget.
