CULVER -ÊTriton's boys basketball team outscored Culver Community 17-1 in the third quarter en route to a 57-40 Friday Northern State Conference win.
Triton improved to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in the NSC, while Culver fell to 1-17 overall and 0-7 in the NSC.
Brian Klingerman scored 11 to lead Triton, while Steven Boyer added 10. Klingerman finished with a double-double as he also added 11 rebounds. He tallied five steals as well.
Senior Rob Salyer's defense fueled Triton's 17-1 run.
"We were changing defenses in the third quarter," Triton coach Joe Bennett said, "and our multiple defenses gave Culver problems. Rob Salyer had four steals during the run."
Triton led just 28-24 at halftime, but when the third quarter ended, Triton led 45-25. Salyer finished the game with seven steals to go along with four points and four assists.
Pat Flaherty scored 13 for Culver.
