Two Winona Lake residents were charged with strong arm robbery Saturday after attempting to rob women in front of Courthouse Coffee, 2558 Frontage Road, Warsaw.
Warsaw Police Department arrested Julie Ann Perez, 22, and Melissa Garza, 20, both of 1202 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, for the attempt, which took place around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. A third suspect reportedly fled from police after the incident.
It is undetermined if a weapon was used during the attempted robbery.
The victims, one from Warsaw and one from Fort Wayne, were leaving the coffee shop when they allegedly were approached by Perez and Percy. Though no items of value were stolen, one victim was battered in the attempt.
Both Percy and Perez were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail early Sunday morning for attempted robbery, and a warrant for a third assailant is expected to be issued.
