WINONA LAKE - The town council held a short meeting today, approving a Certificate of Tax Increment Financing worksheet.
The form shows the town's willingness to spread $7,622.60 generated by the TIF district across the entire tax base. Figures by Umbaugh and Associates show a 1-cent increase in the tax levy.
All of the many cities and towns taking advantage of tax increment financing options prior to the state's tax restructuring last summer are applying TIF costs to all citizens, instead of "capturing" the funds specifically generated by the district.
With approval of a final work order of $5,922.90, the Faunn and Lake Town Circle street projects were complete.
The board also signed an interlocal cooperation agreement with the county for aerial photography, at a cost of $3,637.
The council also approved ordinance 2002-12-02 authorizing a year-end transfer of monies.
Town council members are Rolly Ortega, Craig Snow, Jerry Clevenger and David Delp. Jeff Carroll was absent.
