WINONA LAKE - Winona Lake Town Council Tuesday approved bids for several street asphalt and storm sewer projects in the town.
The council approved a $59,038.50 contract with Phend & Brown for asphalt projects.The projects include asphalting the alley from Administration Boulevard to 12th Street; the Boys City Drive alley from Park Avenue to Oakwood Street; the Wooster Road alley from Kings Highway to a private drive; and Eastwood Road from Southfield Road to a private drive.
The council approved the projects at its July 22 meeting, and first reviewed bids at its Aug. 12 meeting.
The council also approved a contract with Newton Excavating for $9,775.79 for installing sewer lines on Widaman Street, and a $8,889.88 contract with Newton Excavating for asphalting Park Avenue to Oakwood Street.
Contracts also were approved for LDP Excavating to asphalt Park Avenue, Hamilton Boulevard and install a flap gate on a storm drain near Chestnut Street.
Upcoming events in the town include Day of Caring today; Grace College begins school Monday; the Shop Hop is Sept. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Lake City Marathon is Sept. 13 from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Light The Night Walk is Sept. 18; and Fall Sailboat Regatta is Sept. 20.
