WINONA LAKE - Council members held a short meeting Tuesday, approving an ordinance regulating construction, use and maintenance of piers and sea walls on the canal.
The ordinance indicates people holding a pier space agreement Dec. 31 have first rights to renew the lease. Then adjacent property owners will be given the opportunity to rent a space, then residents, then non-residents.
This year, each of the 79 spaces along the "lagoon" have been leased to residents.
The ordinance also regulates the size and placement of the pier and equipment.
Events in town were heard as: Second Sunday concert series, March 13, 7:30 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium; and the Community Recognition Dinner at Lakeland Christian Academy, March 17, 6 p.m.
Town council members are Jeff Carroll, Rolly Ortega, Joy Loshe and Jerry Clevenger. David Delp was absent.
