WINONA LAKE - A Winona Lake Police patrolman who reportedly smelled meth fumes emitting from a mobile home led drug police to find an active lab inside the residence. Around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Winona Lake Police Officer Malcolm Gilbert was patrolling the Fairlane Mobile Home Park in Winona Lake when he smelled what he believed were methamphetamine-production fumes pouring from a mobile home in the complex, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Chad Hill. Gilbert called in Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers, who targeted a trailer at 1202 Wooster Road, lot 57, Hill said. After raiding the home, officers found an active one-pot meth lab brewing, Hill said. With strong meth odors inside, drug task force officers removed the only man inside – 39-year-old Todd William Raney – and called in the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team to process the scene and dismantle the lab. Raney was arrested and preliminarily charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. He also had an outstanding warrant in Kosciusko County for a probation violation. Raney is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
