WINONA LAKE - A traffic incident Wednesday night involving an undercover officer has a Winona Lake man in jail.
A Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officer was sitting in a parking lot near the intersection of Kings Highway and Walnut Street, Winona Lake, at approximately 7:20 p.m. when a Ford Mustang veered off the road and rammed the front of the officer's vehicle. The driver, Scott Allen Freeman, 40, of 202 14th St., Winona Lake, then backed up and pulled in front of the officer's vehicle in a blocking maneuver.
Freeman apparently exited his vehicle in a very irate state and started a verbal confrontation with the officer before being subdued and placed under arrest.
Neither Freeman or the officer were injured in the crash.
Freeman was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail, initially charged with battery and criminal recklessness. No bond has been set at this time.
