WINONA LAKE - Negotiations are continuing between the town council and Grace Brethren Home Missions for use of part of a building for a new town hall.
GBHM had previously offered part of the building, now named Kingsway Suites, to the town on a lease. At a special meeting Wednesday, the council made a counter offer for half the building to be purchased by the town instead of leased.
Other options the council is considering include building a new town hall on town-owned property on Chestnut Street or renovating the Quonset hut.
The council also discussed street work on the island. The base coat will be done today, cement work will be finished next, then final street paving will be done.
The council will meet in executive session at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to discuss personnel matters, and in its regular session at 6 p.m. Oct. 14.
