WINONA LAKE – A Winona Lake officer and a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputy responded to a report of aggravated battery Sunday night in Winona Lake.
Seth Weldy McMillan, 45, of 208 14th St., Winona Lake, was arrested for aggravated battery, a Class B felony.
At 10:16 p.m., McMillan was picked up at his home in Winona Lake after allegedly attacking his niece.
According to the police report, his niece's daughters had been dropped off and she had spoken with the children’s father before McMillan attacked her. Police say McMillan told his niece that she was a bad mother and she told him he was a psycho. At that point McMillan attacked her and began punching her with closed fists to her head.
During the altercation, his niece was holding her 3-year-old daughter, and the baby was also hit during the altercation. Even after his niece fell to the ground, he continued to attack her.
Officers spoke with the young girl who said that her ear “was hurting.” When officers examined the young girl they found her left ear to be red and bruise on her forehead.
After officers examined the young girl, family members escorted the children and McMillan’s niece to a vehicle and left the scene.
Officers interviewed McMillan at the scene and he told them that he “lost it when she called him a psycho and started hitting her.”
McMillan was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and held on $2,000 surety bond. As of press time, McMillan was in KCJ.
