WINONA LAKE - Philip Hood is seeking the Winona Lake Town Council Ward 1 seat to continue the partnership between the town, Grace College and Winona Restoration.
The District 1 seat is currently held by Joy Lohse, who previously announced she is not seeking re-election to the seat.
"It's been great to see the accomplishments that have benefited our town because of the partnership between the town of Winona Lake, Grace College and Winona Restoration," Hood said.
Hood said he looks forward to continue developing and enhancing that relationship if elected.
"For the future of the town, I would also like to see ongoing business development and recruitment for a well-diversified economy and for local job growth," Hood said.
Hood is a lifetime Winona Lake resident and grew up going to Jefferson Elementary School.
He said community involvement and servanthood has been modeled to him within his family.
His father was a fireman, and his mother is a teacher.
Hood's grandfather served on the Winona Lake Town Council in the 1960s.
Hood graduated from Grace College in 2003 with a double major in business administration and information technology.
He lives in Winona Lake with his wife, Cami, and their four children.
He said his family enjoys bike rides on the greenway and walking down to the Village At Winona and the park. He said they also spend a lot of time on Winona Lake wakeboarding in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
"I believe it is important to preserve the water quality and exercise good stewardship of our greatest natural resources," Hood said.
Hood is a materials planner at Medtronic where he manages the supply chain of various spinal implants.
He also serves at Medtronic on the Mission In Motion Committee, which works with not-for-profit organizations to raise support and do service projects in the community.
He delivers mobile meals to residents of Winona Lake through Combined Community Services.
He also served on the redistricting committee for Warsaw Community Schools last year.
Dan Daggett
WINONA LAKE - Dan Daggett is seeking the Winona Lake Ward 1 seat to give back to the community.
Daggett is currently the vice chairman of the Convention & Visitor's Bureau and has been on the board since 2008. In 2010, he was the services division chair for the United Way fundraising campaign.
Daggett was on the air for 21 years from 1988-2009 with WRSW-FM.
In 2008, he was promoted to sales manager for Lake City Radio, which consists of WRSW-FM Lake City Rock 107.3, Willie 103.5 and ESPN-1480.
His hobbies include genealogy, reading and running.
Daggett said his work experience of team leadership, negotiation skills, problem solving and time management have provided him with the background and experience necessary to be a positive addition to the community.
Daggett is originally from North Manchester and graduated in 1984 from Manchester High School.
In 1988, he graduated from Manchester College with a bachelor's of science degree in communications.
He moved to Warsaw in 1989; and in 2004 moved to Winona Lake with his wife, Theresa, and their two children, Sam and Evie.
Theresa is a chef and the instructor for the Warsaw Area Career Center, Culinary Arts program at Whitko High School. Sam is a freshman at Warsaw Community High School. Evie is an eighth-grader at Lakeview Middle School.
