U.S. Rep. Mark Souder announced today the Winona Lake Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $63,758 grant.
The award comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters grant program. The money may be used for operations and firefighter safety.
"I am pleased to announce that the Winona Lake Volunteer Fire Department will receive a federal grant to upgrade their equipment and enhance firefighter safety," Souder is quoted as saying in a press release. "This funding will help ensure that residents of Kosciusko County are afforded the very best protection from their firefighters."
Fire departments could apply for eligible activities in one of four programs: fire operations and firefighter safety, fire prevention, emergency medical services and firefighting vehicles.
