Fire crews put out a fire at 1008 W. Canal St. in Winona Lake Sunday afternoon. A Winona Lake Fire Department official said the fire is believed to be electrical in nature and it started in the home's attic above the kitchen. The home is owned by Brent Smith though renters were at the home. The fire took 30 minutes to get under control. The estimated damage was between $60,000 and $65,000. Warsaw and Pierceton fire departments assisted.
