WINONA LAKE - Winona Lake Town Council approved the town purchasing a cherry picker Tuesday.
The maximum cost of the cherry picker is up to $1,000. It will be used by the town's street department.
It will be attached to the street department's truck, and be used to change street lights and work on stop lights.
During floor topics, Jay Shively, a resident in Heritage Park subdivision, thanked the police department for its help with cones, no parking zones and traffic generated during the garage sales that the subdivision had last Saturday.
Councilwoman Sue Gooding questioned whether the town has a travel policy. She said she would like to have this researched and get some policies together from other businesses and communities for the council to look at.
Town Coordinator Craig Allebach informed the council that a promotion is being worked on to bring people in from the county and out of county to shop in the various communities within Kosciusko County.
