WINONA LAKE - Street department employees will receive a $200 clothing allowance for overalls and boots, the town council voted Tuesday.
The town already furnishes uniforms for the street, police and fire departments, but has not given additional allowances for outdoor clothing.
The items that may be purchased with the clothing allowance will be specified later and the information will be added to the town's employee handbook.
The council also:
Approved paying a premium of $50 to the town employee who carries a beeper on weekends in case of emergencies.
Approved July 5 as the date of the town employee picnic.
Assigned park superintendent Jim LeMasters and clerk-treasurer Retha Hicks to research training programs for town employees.
Approved advertising the Lilly Street sanitary sewer project for bids, which will be accepted at the May 6 meeting.
The council will meet next at 7:30 a.m. April 22.
