Winners of the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and Warsaw Rotary Club banner contest were announced Tuesday. The event is sponsored twice a year by the Rotary Club. Winners have their artwork printed on a banner, and all finalists receive tickets to the summer musicals at the Wagon Wheel. The contest is open to all Warsaw Community Schools students. At least one banner winner is selected from each school entered in each grade level category, which are fifth, sixth and ninth through 12th. Winning banners will be reproduced into 18-inch by 43.5-inch vertical banners and will hang on street lights downtown Warsaw during the summer. The banner design theme for grades fifth and sixth was “Disney’s ‘Beauty & The Beast.’” Entries had to include the title and dates of the show, June 1-11. For ninth through 12th grade, the banner design theme was “Grease” and had to include the title and the dates of the show, Aug. 10-20. Everything else on the banner was left up to the student artist. Original designs were made on 8.5-inch by 11-inch paper. All entries had to be done as a portrait layout design. Awards were presented at a public reception at the Wagon Wheel Theatre Tuesday.
