KOKOMO – Winifred “Winnie” Smalley Hohn, 97, of Kokomo, and formerly of Mentone, died at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 12, 2012, in Fairmont Rehabilitation Center, Kokomo.
She was born March 18, 1915, in Mentone, to David F and Frances O. Nelson Swick. In January 1935, she married Earl D. Smalley, who died in July 1970. In February 1978, she married Wendell A. Hohn, who died in May 1988.
She was a graduate of Mentone High School and owned and operated the Kentucky Fried Chicken, Elkhart, retiring in 1982. She was active in the Church of Christ, Mentone, and the Center Road Church of Christ, Kokomo.
Surviving are two sons, Jack N. (and spouse Carolin) Smalley, Kokomo, and Carl Gregory (and spouse Joan) Smalley, Elkhart; two stepsons, Dr. Richard Hohn, Chaplin, S.C., and Lt. Col. Roger Hohn, Niceville, Fla.; a sister, Pauline Herd, Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three sisters.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mentone Cemetery with Minister Billy Fields officiating.
