Wings Etc. License Renewed a Year

After an excise visit in June that resulted in five violations, combined with previous violations, Wings Etc. in Warsaw was granted a one-year renewal of its liquor license.

Wings Etc., 2602 Shelden St., Warsaw, will have to appear before the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission next year whether it receives a violation or not.

“And you’re not going to want to appear in front of us with a violation next year,” said Commission President Gordon Vanator.

According to Excise Officer April Tackett, on June 8, an excise officer and underage decoy went into Wings Etc.

The restaurant/bar was cited for five different violations that included allowing a minor to loiter and a bartender not being licensed.

The other charges had to do with the a manager not going through proper training and a lack of employee records.

The report stated that the server was working off a receipt because her renewal of her liquor license was denied due to a tax issue.

Wings Etc. paid an $800 fine and the server paid a $100 fine.

Wings Etc. also had violations in August 2009 and February 2010.

“The one year gives you time to get your act in place,” said Vanator to a Wings Etc. manager appearing before the board.

After five months without being able to, Rozella Ford Golf Course moved closer to selling alcohol again.

Bogey’s Steakhouse was located on Rozella Ford but closed its doors in July.

Tackett confirmed that the state had not received a manager’s questionnaire required to transfer ownership from Bogey’s former owners back to the golf course.

The golf course owned the license but transferred it over to Bogey’s to limit liability.

When the restaurant closed, Jerry Aylor, representing the golf course at Thursday’s meeting, said the former owners wouldn’t fill out the manager’s questionnaire.

An inspection was done after the meeting.

Aylor asked how soon the golf course could start serving alcohol again.

Since the golf course has no manager’s questionnaire, Tackett said the golf course would have to wait about three to four weeks to get the actual permit.

Aylor said the restaurant has not been leased out yet.

Since the board voted unanimously, and there were no remonstrators, Tackett said she would attempt to get the golf course a letter of authority.

Letters of authority are typically used for new licenses.

The following licenses were renewed with no violations:
