Winchester Loses Cancer Battle

Posted
GOSHEN - A Wawasee School Board member and Milford's utilities superintendent lost his battle with cancer on Thanksgiving.

On Nov. 8, Town Clerk Charlotte Siegfried said Winchester fell ill while working at home, suffering from an extreme headache and loss of sight.

Winchester was rushed to Goshen General Hospital earlier this month where he was diagnosed as suffering from an aggressive form of cancerous brain tumor.

The tumor was inoperable, according to Siegfried, and cancer also was found in his internal organs.

Winchester had fallen ill before he went to the hospital at his home.

Winchester suffered from melanoma approximately two years ago, but was found to be cancer free after treatment.

An emergency executive session of the Milford Town Council was held following the council's regular meeting. The council appointed Randy Veach as water department operator in charge.Funeral arrangements are pending with Mishler Funeral Home, Milford.

A full obituary for Winchester will be in Monday's edition of the Times-Union.
