Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Brubaker announced Mike Wilson as his successor to the position Tuesday afternoon at the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Protection Territory meeting.
Brubaker and Mayor Joe Thallemer reintroduced Wilson, who is set to take on the role of chief Sept. 1.
Wilson previously served on the City of Warsaw Fire Department for 21 years until 2011. Wilson held various positions, such as assistant chief and fire marshal.
“Mike has a history of outstanding service with the city,” said Thallemer. “I am very confident that as a lifelong resident of this community ... Mike will lead our department to continue its strong record of service and protection of our citizens.”
Wilson has lived in Kosciusko County since he was 15.
Wilson said that he is very happy to be back in the fire department and that he knows it will be “hard to replace Mike (Brubaker).”
“I will be here as long as he needs,” said Brubaker. He said that he has so much commitment to the city of Warsaw and respect for Wilson that he will be readily available to help whenever he can.
Other topics covered at the meeting were replacing the 40-year-old tornado siren at Fire Station 2, the need for nine more tornado sirens to reach the entire Warsaw area and the reconstruction of the Station 2 roof.
