NAPPANEE – Wilma E. Sechrist, 106, of Nappanee, died at 1:36 a.m. April 8, 2013, in Elkhart General Hospital. She was in ill health for two weeks. She was born March 12, 1907, in Kosciusko County, to Noah and Anna Heckaman Rhinehart. On April 27, 1929, in Nappanee, she married Harold F. Sechrist, in Nappanee, who died May 16, 1979. She attended Nappanee schools. From 1929-36, she was a telephone operator at Nappanee Telephone Co.. She also worked at Vitreous Steel Co., the Nappanee Sauerkraut Factory and in her father’s grocery store. She was a longtime member of Nappanee United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Lois Johnson, West Terre Haute; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three sisters. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Nappanee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery. Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. ***** Memorials may be given to Nappanee United Methodist Church.
