Willie Slone, 63, of 2076 W. CR 900S, Silver Lake, died at 3:50 p.m. March 5, 2010, in Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Akron, to Edd and Ida Hall Slone. On July 17, 1971, in Hampstead, Md., he married Judy Lynn Jackson, who survives.
He graduated from North Manchester High School in 1965, and Manchester College, North Manchester, in 1971, and earned a master's degree from Indiana University in 1973. He taught science at South Whitley Middle School from 1971-94, when he took a disability retirement. He was a member of Manchester Bible Church, North Manchester, and served on the board as treasurer.
Also surviving are a son, Jason (and spouse Amy) Slone, Silver Lake; two daughters, Michele (and spouse Mike) Thurston, Huntington, and Melanie Slone, Silver Lake; three grandchildren; and four sisters, Hattie Brown, Marcie Kirk, Louise Hopkins and Edna Hughes, all of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Larry Schuh officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
